Martha was born in 1839 in Walton on the Hill, Surrey.1 Martha's father was William Letts and her mother was Jane. Her paternal grandparents were <Unknown> and <Unknown>. She was the third of five children. She had two brothers and two sisters, named Frederick, Joseph, Mary and Emma. 1 1851 census
