Elizabeth's father was John Barley and her mother was Jane Barley. Her maternal grandparents were John Barley and Ann Taylor. She was the second of three children. She had two brothers named George and Thomas. She had two half-brothers and two half-sisters, named John, Thomas, Ann and Jane.
